How We Are Funded

All of OYWT’s services are available to the community free of charge. As we are a not-for-profit charity, this means we have to find enough funding to cover the costs of providing our service.

We receive funding from government contracts, charitable grants. and individual donations from people in the community. Every dollar is valued and used to support our rangatahi.

OYWT runs a lean operation, with the focus on ensuring we can spend most of the funding we have on our trained and experienced team.

Our caseworkers are a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, teachers and youth workers. In addition to supporting them in our mahi, we use the funding we gather in to support our mentoring programme, holiday programme and other experiences to support our rangatahi.

We receive government funding for our casework and attendance services, and for work we do to assist rangatahi to transition to independent adults.

But the high level of need in the community means we are not fully funded by Government, and really need the community’s support to keep us afloat. The demand for our service reflects the need of your community, and the valuable support you can provide for the future.

If you have a fundraising idea please think of us - we would love to help you if we can, and welcome any efforts to support our work administrator@oywt.org.nz
